Former Spotlight- Meredith Olson

Updated: Oct 11, 2019

So excited to share our first former spotlight Meredith Olson!!

Meredith was Miss Metro 2016 and she placed 3rd runner up at Miss Iowa. Her platform was Music Matters and she has continued to advocate for the arts in education everyday through being a k-6 music educator. She is currently nominated for the 2020 Grammy Music Educator Award where the winner will be announced at the 2020 Grammy Awards Ceremony.

Pageants opened up so many connections for Meredith and they helped her to be the best version of herself. She loved being Miss Metro and has continued to help out at pageants back stage and through mock interviews.

The scholarship money that she won at Miss Iowa helped her to pay for part of her master’s degree which she will complete this coming May. Her masters degree will be in Teaching, Leadership and Cultural Competency. Along with teaching, Meredith has continued performing in shows like Beauty and the Beast and directing children’s theater.

The Miss America scholarship program and amazing locals like Miss Greater Des Moines offer fantastic opportunities for young women and Meredith is grateful to be a part of the sisterhood.
